About Balcary House

Balcary is a large comfortable house on the western edge of Hawick. It is set in the peace of its own grounds, and has the warmth and friendliness of a private home. There is room enough for individuals and families to have holidays and for groups to hold seminars and conferences, adult and youth camps.
We welcome guests of all ages.

The House is centrally heated and spacious; most of the sleeping accomodation is in small dormitories of between 1 and 4 bunk beds, but we also have single and double rooms. Cots are provided for babies; duvets and sheets can be provided on all beds. Up to 45 guests can sleep in the house and many more can camp in the grounds.

Balcary House has a number of facilities on offer. Christian Bookshop and video hire library, Large screen Video Playback & DVD, Audiovisual teaching library and book library, Roland Piano, Photocopier & Fax, Guest telephone, Tuck Shop Large Garden, Meeting Hall (seats 80) OHP & Sound System, Games Room.

There is an excellent kitchen with ample storage, freezing and cooking facilities for the use of groups for self-catering. Click here for charges.

How to get to Balcary House

By car:
On A7 going towards Carlisle, it is 50 yds. past Hawick Cottage Hospital.
Hawick town centre - half a mile
Edinburgh - 45 miles
Carlisle - 45 miles
Newcastle - 65 miles

By Train:
From London Euston to Carlisle. Then Rail link coach to Hawick.
Or, from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh, then by Lowland Scottish bus to Hawick.

By coach or bus to Hawick:
Rail link coach (service number 195) from Carlisle or Lowland Scottish bus (service number 95) Edinburgh to Hawick, where booked guests can be collected free. (Other coaches and local buses stop in Hawick)
